Mugabe: The Wonderful Thing for a Despot..

Is the world powerless to do anything about a despot like Robert Mugabe and his murderous regime? Or are they unwilling to act because they have investments in the country like the senior Tories who are defying their leader's instruction to remove all economic ties? Then we have Thabo Mbeki, who is reportedly lobbying other African leaders to legitimise the results of the second 'election', where people were forced to vote for Mugabe, under threat of death and yet still many brave people spoiled their ballots and wrote messages of support for the MDC (even though they'd been told by the government they knew how they would vote and they would be killed if they did anything but vote for Mugabe and Zanu PF). I cannot see how much more evidence the powers that be need to act, unless of course it isn't in their personal interest to do so.

Everything Up But Wages

Fuel prices for the roof, utility prices the same and interest rates set to rise again and the government wants everyone to accept wage settlements, which will effect mean a drop in their standard of living. Everyone except the people who landed us in this mess in the first place, who are still awarding themselves huge bonuses. And while all this goes on, more and more people's homes are at risk of negative equity and repossession.

I SAY I SAY I SAY!

It would seem to some that New Labour really don't want to win the next election. If they do have any aspirations of victory why would they immediately announce another raft of privatisations (this time of the most sacred left wing cows), on the back of local election results that to anyone else would prove the true Labour core vote had finally had enough of New Labour's overtly right wing agenda and Toryising of policy?

Captain Certain

I was asked by the BBC to create a satirical superhero style strip, chronicling the fortunes and misfortunes of Gordon Brown. For those less familiar with British politics Brown had a very successful honeymoon period with the electorate, but both his and the government's standing in the polls have plummeted since last autumn, following his failure to call a general election when he had obviously been intending to do so.
