Everything Up But Wages

Fuel prices for the roof, utility prices the same and interest rates set to rise again and the government wants everyone to accept wage settlements, which will effect mean a drop in their standard of living. Everyone except the people who landed us in this mess in the first place, who are still awarding themselves huge bonuses. And while all this goes on, more and more people's homes are at risk of negative equity and repossession.

I think I'll try and become an MP. That way I won't even have to pay for my groceries!

I want to know what they actually pay for? And they want a £40K wage rise! Don't vote - it just encourages them.

Mm, if I was an MP that would mean that I wouldn't have to pay for anything because I could claim expenses like the woman with her nanny who apparently did secreterial work, House fo Fraser gate.... Tough life. For the rest of us.
I was amazed, actually, to learn how much fuel truck drivers earn. 40000? And they were complaining? Some people have to work 3 or 4 years to make that kind of money.
Ciao, still love the commentary!

Well our local politicians have commandeered a local primary school for any voting days. Which shows how seriously they take the kids education. They came to my door and said 'It's very close to you will you go and vote?' I said I might but I didn't agree with a school being used. 'But the children will get a lovely day off!' They couldn't say anything though when I said 'But I (stressed) take education VERY seriously'. They also didn't like me bringing up the fact that they are also losing the two ladies who serve the school meals a fifth of their weekly wage. (They don't get paid if the school is shut. And being on minimum wage every little counts). They tried blustering their way out of that. But they particularly didn't like it when I asked if they were going to donate a fifth of their weekly wage to compensate the dinner ladies. lol. I did say maybe they could put it on expenses.

On their wages if they donated an hour of their pay it'd cover a dinner ladies.

We need the 'none of the above' option - then I'd vote.

I use my own version of 'None of the above' and write a message on it. Not a rude one, I don't want to lower myself, but this time I think it will be something about children's education and unnecessary interruptions to it.

All these price rises can't continue, otherwise something is going to give. Well it has - the British love affair with New Labour. Thank God.

Yeah, you're right about the 'none of the above' - all the candidates from all the parties seem to have morphed to be each other, if you get my drift. There's no distinction between any of them which is terrible.

I think it's great that Ed Balls and his wife are getting investigated - paying taxes just so they can furnish their second home? Some of us can only dream of a second home!

P.S. When I said "House of Fraser" in my previous comment, I meant John Lewis. Sorry, I must have been caught in the heat of the moment!

The problem with that is it is just counted as a spoiled ballot. If they actually had a 'none of the above' box they would have to read out how many people had actively chosen to state that they are excluded from the democratic process by not having a candidate who reflects their views and interests.

As far as I'm concerned all the UK political parties are as bad as each other and much of what we are seeing in the way of price rises now have resulted from the lack of accountability attached to the privatised untilities when Tories sold them off in the 80s.

I know, but it gives me the satisfaction that it still has to be counted and will come up in statistics of spoilt papers. Which will show them how much of the population that went to the booth is disgusted with them. So until there is a 'None of the Above' box I'll have to do it my own way.
