It's Another Fine Mess They've Gotten Us Into!

Gordon Brown and the Chancellor Alistair Darling seem to lurch from one disaster to the next/ leaving a trail of political mayhem, which translates into bad news for the rest of us, behind them. The really worrying thing about all of this is when we look to the alternative! No wonder so many of us don't see a reason to vote!

Oh that's absolutely spot on. I've been finding it harder and harder with each passing election to vote, when all of the alternatives seem to be merging into one gloopy blob. If it wasn't for people losing their life and liberty so that women could vote here, and seeing the queues of voters in post-apartheid South Africa to remind me how important it is, I'd just stay at home. But every time it's getting more and more like Pin the Tail on the Donkey - I could close my eyes and put my X anywhere, and probably not make all that much of a difference. Sigh.

Yep - your choice is right wing or really right wing - not a 'choice' I'm willing to endorse. I agree with you - it is very important to use your vote, but what are you supposed to do when the parties which stand any chance of gaining power are totally alien to any of your personal values and interests? I for one am not willing to vote for the least worst option anymore.

I am glad I am not required to vote in the UK because I would having done so on principle in the past despite the fact my own vote never mattered because of my choice. Here, with P.R., it does matter.
I cannot help think it is all the Thatcher Legacy.
The cartoon is great. Spot on.

Thanks aileni and I totally agree - all our politicians are Thatcheriites now - that's why nothing works. PR is what we desperately need, but they'll never give it to us, because that would break the strangle-hold of the two main parties and in the mean-time fewer and fewer of us are bothering to vote.
